We had appointment with DESOPADEC commissioner, Udu people insist WARRI—Following denials that Udu chiefs did not schedule an appointment with the commissioner representing Udu/Ughelli South and Urhobo of Warri South on the board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Amos Itiwhe, spokesman (Otota) of Udu Kingdom, Chief Sam Odibo, has insisted that there was a scheduled appointment that Itiwhe did not honour. Addressing newsmen at his Warri office, yesterday, Chief Odibo insisted they had an appointment with the commissioner at DESOPADEC’s Zonal Office at Ujevwu to discuss issues affecting Udu Kingdom, but that they left after two hours of waiting. Odibo said,  “we are amazed at the arrogance displayed by the commissioner over his failure to keep an appointment.  A simple phone call to two or three of the chiefs would have yielded better results rather than go to the pages of newspapers to defend his failure to keep the appointment.” Odibo insisted that resurfacing of half a kilometre of the failed portions of the Ubogo/Ogbe-Udu Road for the entire Udu community in two years cannot impel them to say DESOPADEC has worked in Udu, stressing that as far as Udu people were concerned, DESOPADEC is moribund.
