Ala-Igbo Cultural Forum unveils Logo By Dennis Agbo ENUGU- A pan Igbo Group, Ala-Igbo Cultural Forum, has unveiled its logo, preparatory to its maiden cultural festival scheduled to hold in Anambra State in August this year. Unveiling the logo at Nike Lake Resort in Enugu, during the weekend, coordinator of the festival and national chairman of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Mr. Chris Mbah, said the festival which will henceforth become an annual event is intended to unite Igbo people through cultural performances. Mbah said that culture is a potent tool that enhances love, peace and unity amongst people, hence the proposed cultural festival which he said will enhance Igbo unity. Mbah said “We are trying to promote our culture. We intend to teach Igbo language because it is vanishing particularly among the Igbo living outside Igboland. We intend to use it to celebrate Ndigbo .” Director General of Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization, CBAAC, Dr. Fedinard Anikwe, who performed unveiling of the logo, said the festival will engender cultural development. Anikwe said that Igbo Cultural unity holds the promise for her liberation, even development and political upliftment. He said “There  should be an organic unity among Igbo culture and organization as substructure and the social, political programes as super structure. The Igboman’s industry should be employed in identifying, developing and utilization of the traits and principles of Igbo culture for Igbo unity and political direction.” He further suggested that the principles of respect for elders, consensual democracy, hard work and  industry; creativity and innovation could be invoked and used as take off for Igbo elders and youths. “If cultural traits are explored, all that is needed is synergy. There should be schools of Igbo language and culture all over the world because the Igbo are all over the world. We need to employ the comparativism   to excel Igbo language in the secrete of commerce in Nigeria. So why can’t we exploit it? Ndigbo should come home to get themselves culturally grounded,” said Anikwe He challenged the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to lead the campaign for rejuvenation of  Igbo Cultural identity, while urging the Igbo to remain their brothers keepers.
