Sailing Club ‘ll lead Nigeria’s quest for Olympic glory – Daramola By Jacob Ajom The Commodore of the Navy Sailing Club, Ojo, Captain Femi Kayode Daramola (retd), has said that with focus and cooperation from all stake holders, the club is capable of championing Nigeria’s quest to climb to global prominence in water sports. A cross section of the inductees taking oath of allegiance Speaking to Sports Vanguard during the induction of 29 new members at the club house on Saturday, Daramola said the the Navy Sailing Club provides the opportunity for both the young and adults to participate in the advancement of water sport in the country. “Apart from providing an avenue for officers and men of the Navy to meet and discuss informally, the primary function of the Navy Sailing Club is to improve water sport in the country,”Daramola said, adding, “it creates an ambience for camaraderie among the rank and file which is extended to family members and even some the civilians”. He recalled that in 2016, the club participated in the Admiralty Race. “Out of 50 participating countries from all over the world we placed 25, which was very encouraging.” Chairman of the Induction Committee, Master Warrant Officer Egwe Hillary said the number represented over 100% increase in the number of new members. “Last year we had only 12.
