A delegation of Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, led by the president, and Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of New Telegraph newspapers, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, is set to visit China between July 23 and 28.
The trip, which is a product of partnership between the NGE and the Chinese Mission in Nigeria, was facilitated by former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.
According to the itinerary of the visit, the delegation is scheduled to arrive Beijing, the Chinese capital, on July 23.
The delegation will, after arrival in Beijing on July 23, undertake a tour of the Departure for China Radio International, CRI, wherein, they are expected to meet with the station’s leadership on July 24.
The Nigerian editors will also visit People’s Daily Newspaper, the number one newspaper in China and top10 in the world.
The delegation is also expected to visit the New Media Industrial Park, Film Production Base and Internet+ Innovation Centre.
Among other important places to visit during the tour are Silk Street, the most internationally-acclaimed shopping centre in the country, and Beijing Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
Other places to be visited by the delegation include: Tianjin Museum, Art Gallery, Natural Museum, Galaxy International Shopping Centre, Ancient Street, Startimes Company, Yangqi Lake and some tradition handicrafts.
Thereafter, NGE will hold a meeting with the Vice Minister of Office of Information of State Council.
Egbemode, speaking on the trip, said:”This is in fulfilment of one the promises of the new EXCO of the Guild to train and retrain members within and outside the country. We will work on more parnerships and break new ground to serve the NGE better.”
Egbemode expressed appreciation for the gesture, which was approved by the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Zhou Pingjian.
She also thanked Kalu, the Chairman of Slok Group, who midwifed the scheduled trip.
The visit is first of its kind in recent time.
