Anambra PRP governorship aspirant pledges agric revolution Mr Stephen Mbah, a Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship aspirant in Anambra, says his priority, if voted into power on Nov. 18, is to revolutionalise the agriculture sector in the state. Mbah gave this indication while addressing party faithful at the inauguration of the Dunukofia Local Government Area chapter at Umunachi, near Onitsha. He said that 40 per cent of the state’s annual revenue would be used to create farm settlements across the state. “My government will have a three-year programme to turn around the fortunes of farmers in the state through mechanised farm settlements that will be established in many parts of the state. “We are already discussing with foreign consultants to see how people, mostly youths and women, will be encouraged to live in farm settlements and produce for export and local consumption. “The target is to make Anambra the food basket of the nation.” Mbah also said that his government would initiate a special programme to empower widows economically as well as ensure regular and timely payment of workers’ salaries. According to him, the party has a socialist ideology and programmes for everyone. The programmes, he said, include free ante-natal care for women, scholarships for children and security of all.
