London-born first daughter of late former Super Nigerian striker, Rashidi Yekini, Yemisi Yekini, a cinematography undergraduate of De Montfort University, Leicester, has said she want her father’s death investigated.
Yemisi who spoke with the Punch yesterday said her father did not show any sign of insanity before his death as reported by some section of the media.

She said she spoke twice every day with him before he died, adding that she heard stories about his insanity.
“Yes I did. I spoke with him, I asked him about it and he said, ‘I’m fine.’ I think there was one (story) about him running around without shoes.
“But I believed my dad because there were no pictures. He was even telling me about him being a coach.
She further lamented that her father’s house in Ibadan which she planned turning into a Museum has been raided by unknown person who took away everything.
She added, “I had the idea of turning his house in Ibadan to a museum.
“Mr. Olanrewaju Jibril (Yekini’s lawyer) told me that when he went to the house, everything was gone: all his trophies, his pictures, awards all gone.
“And that’s very sad and upsetting because that’s something we would have loved to remember our father with.”
Yemisi, who is the first among Yekini’s two daughters said she would want to know the cause of her father’s death, adding that for four years since his demise, no tangible thing has been said.
She said, “There is no information on how he died and we cannot move on when we don’t know how he died.
“Your father just passed away and you ask you mother, ‘Mum, how did he die?’ And she says, ‘I don’t know.’ Your father is dead and you don’t know how he died.
“That’s the worst thing. You don’t know if he was killed, drugged or ill. There are no answers as to how he died, so I will like there to be an inquisition to that.
“I requested for an inquisition when he died but as a 17-year-old girl, I couldn’t say to my mother, ‘Mum I want the police to investigate.’ No one would listen to me.
“Everyone is saying Rashidi Yekini is a great footballer; he is a superstar of Nigeria, so, why do we need to request for an inquisition? Why can’t just Nigeria investigate how he died?”
