No fewer than 56 people are  feared killed in attack on a Borno community by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at the weekend.
Governor Kashim Shettima  confirmed that 56 people died in the attack .
Some insurgents reportedly raided Baanu in Ngazai Local Government, north of Borno though the attack was not immediately known in the state capital, Maiduguri, due to poor telephone services.
However, a military source said some of the insurgents fled from military in the central part of the state. They reportedly fled towards Ngazai and chose to wreak havoc at Baanu, a remote farming community around Chad Basin agricultural area.
Reports claimed the attack occurred at night as the insurgents, rode into the town on motorcycles and two 4×4 wheel vehicles, threw Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) into houses as soon as they arrived the village, forcing villagers to flee their homes.
